research/interests:
I'm fascinated by the exchange between two-dimensional image forms and the sculptural presence of object forms... Where they overlap -when an objects' presence becomes an image, and that imagistic memory resonates as having a three dimensional logic belaying cultural information.
Even the most mundane fragmentary bits of form and gesture seem to become object-like, on display as signals of the present, guiding our imaginations of the future. My work is a study of the closeness between the mediated and its opposite; the almost parrodoxical correspondence between the two that informs understanding. Events become memories, and our perspectives become party to the regularity of their imagistic overlaps -gestures, objects, colors, interactions might construct the siren call of statuettes... My research is a kind of a maximalist evocation of early minimalist project principles: a probing of ones physical relationship to a beheld "object" of visual information. The term Shelf Life, in its various connotations describes my direction in all upcoming work.
